We had dinner last night at The Tin Top Restaurant and Oyster Bar in Bon Secour. Oh, my! If you’ve never been, plan a trip soon. It’s a little off the beaten path, but the short drive is more than worth it. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere is Coastal Alabama at it’s finest.
We started out with the Smoked Tuna Dip, Sauteed Crab Claws, Fried Green Tomatoes Tin Top, and a bowl of Seafood Gumbo. (I know it sounds like a lot, but there were eleven of us.) The crab claws were smothered in a creamy alfredo sauce and were served with crunchy garlic bread, and the “Tin Top” house crawfish sauce on the crunchy fried tomatoes was amazing. The tuna dip and gumbo were so good that they disappeared before I had a bite. Everyone’s dinner was amazing as well, and between all of us, we tried a little bit of everything – Pan Seared Tuna, Fresh Blackened Trigger Fish, Fried Shrimp, Grilled Firecracker Shrimp, Seafood Alfredo, Crab Cakes, Rib Eye, and Filet. The steaks were tender, well-seasoned, and well-cooked, and the seafood was perfectly-prepared. Even the side dishes were good – lima beans, turnip greens, and cheese grits were options along with the standard baked potato or french fries. Some of us saved room for dessert, and the Strawberry Bread Pudding and Key Lime Pie didn’t disappoint. To see The Tin Top’s entire dinner menu, CLICK HERE.
